The regeneration of two courtyards totalling 1100m2 at a mixed 11 - 16 Secondary School

Kingsdown School is one of 29 schools within River Learning Trust and is a mixed 11-16 Secondary School which already has an impressive mix of outdoor sports and indoor fitness facilities, and is located in Swindon, Wiltshire.

Outdoor Fitness Concepts won a tender issued in January 2022 for the regeneration of two internal school courtyards into outdoor fitness areas totalling 1100m2. The two courtyards were surrounded by classrooms on all sides and the project had to be completed outside of school hours, weekends and school holidays, to avoid any noise and disruption to classes.

The new fitness areas feature a selection of cardio and calisthenics equipment for all ability levels and ages, which is designed to improve balance, co-ordination, strength and functional conditioning and encourage movement. Both areas will be completed with wet pour critical fall height, all weather flooring with embedded Kingsdown School logos and will include comprehensive training for their staff.

The new courtyard 'C' outdoor space is equipped with a range of EN1176 certified Element Fitness calisthenics equipment, outdoor stations and outdoor activity gym equipment and was supplied and finished in custom colours to Kingsdown School branding. The surface was finished with EN1177 certified wet pour safety flooring with embedded logo. 

Both outdoor areas have a zero operational cost.
